How Do I...
Make An Appointment?
Consultations are by appointment only. Routine GP appointment slots are for 10 minutes. Appointments can be made either by calling into the surgery or by telephoning during normal office hours (if telephoning please
bear in mind that it is always busier in the morning). Please make a separate appointment for each person wishing to see the doctor. Do avoid storing up lists of problems as this is time-consuming and results in surgeries
running over time.
You can see any one of the doctors, regardless of who you are registered with, but whenever possible, we recommend you consult with the same doctor throughout the course of any illness.
PLEASE NOTE: The surgery policy is that if you arrive late for your appointment (10 minutes or more) the doctor or nurse will not see you and you will be asked to re-book. If you arrive late for your
appointment but within the 10 minutes you will be asked to wait until there is a suitable slot for the doctor to see you (this is due to the fact that other patients who arrive on time for their appointment could be left
waiting). If you are unable to wait to be seen then you should book another appointment.
PLEASE DO NOT ASK THE RECEPTIONISTS TO ASK THE DOCTOR IF THEY WILL SEE YOU AS THE ANSWER WILL BE “NO”.
Urgent Appointments
If you need an urgent appointment you will be offered an 'on the day' appointment with the Nurse Practitioner or a GP. The Nurse Practitioner has undergone extensive training enabling her to offer this service and is
able to prescribe.
We do not class the issue of repeat prescriptions or medical certificates as urgent cases and you will be offered a routine appointment for these.
Nurse Appointments
When requesting a nurse / HCA appointment please tell the receptionist what it is for (blood test, smear, vaccination, etc), as this will ensure that you are allocated the appropriate time slot.
Unwanted Appointments
If you cannot keep your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible. We are a busy practice and someone else will always want to take advantage of your cancellation.
How Do I...
Obtain A Home Visit?
Home visits should, whenever possible, be requested before 11.00am. This service is at the discretion of the doctors and should only be requested if you are housebound or too ill to attend the surgery.
Please remember that we can see four or five patients in surgery in the time it takes to do one home visit, so please do not request a home visit unless it is strictly necessary.
How Do I...
Obtain Test Results/Hospital Reports?
Blood tests, urine tests, smear tests etc are carried out for the benefit of your health.
Results of these tests may be obtained by telephoning the surgery or by calling at the reception after 11.00am Monday to Friday. The receptionist may only be able to state that the result is normal or that you will have
to see the doctor. Please do not expect the receptionist to have any other information regarding your test.
